Bringing Women in Data’s Brand to Life at InterContinental London – The O2
When 3,500 guests arrive for an event, graphics have a lot of work to do. They need to welcome people, guide them through the venue, give sponsors visibility and bring the organiser’s brand to life.
For our client Women in Data, all of this needed to happen across three levels and 40,000 square feet, with a tight installation window and just one hour to remove everything afterwards.
At Nevill Group, our role was to make that work while ensuring every part of the graphics budget earned its place.
An honest approach to the brief
We were invited to meet the talented Women in Data team at InterContinental London – The O2 to discuss graphics for their large annual gathering. They wanted our advice on the most cost-effective and impactful way to introduce wayfinding, event branding and sponsor graphics throughout the building.
We began by surveying the space, looking at how guests would move between floors, where directions would be most useful and which locations offered the strongest opportunities for branding.
From there, we developed a design deck for approval, supported by associated costs. We recommended where investment would make the greatest difference and identified areas where additional graphics felt excessive.
That honesty matters to us. We want our clients to feel confident in what they are spending and why. Building a long-term relationship means recommending the right solution, including being clear when we believe something does not need to be added.
Choosing materials that suited the event
The practical requirements were just as important as the visual impact.
Every graphic needed to come away without leaving a trace. Installation had to fit a tight deadline, and the entire scheme needed to be removed seamlessly within one hour. Our team also had to complete the work without guests seeing staff installing or removing the displays.
With those requirements in mind, we identified three suitable applications: removable vinyl graphics, tension fabric frame displays and lightweight rigid panels.
Together, these gave us the flexibility to create a strong presence throughout the venue while planning for efficient installation and removal from the outset.
Guiding 3,500 guests across three levels
Good wayfinding helps people enjoy an event without having to stop and work out where to go.
Our graphics directed 3,500 guests across three levels, covering 40,000 square feet. Clear positioning helped guests find their destinations and supported traffic flow through the stairwells.
We also considered the beginning and end of the guest journey. Welcome graphics greeted visitors as they entered the building, while departure messaging thanked them for attending as they left.
These details helped make the venue feel connected, considered and ready for the event.
A space unmistakably branded for Women in Data
Alongside navigation, the graphics provided visibility for sponsors, including some of the world’s largest technology companies.
Above all, they brought Women in Data’s vibrant red into the venue, creating a recognisable branded environment throughout the event space. The aim was for photographs taken there to carry a clear sense of the organisation behind the gathering, extending brand awareness beyond the venue itself.
By considering wayfinding, sponsor visibility and event branding together, we created a scheme that served several purposes within one coordinated design.
Impact built on careful planning
For us, successful event graphics start well before installation. They begin with understanding the space, the guest journey, the budget and the practical demands of the day.
Our work with Women in Data brought all of those considerations together: clear directions, prominent sponsor graphics and a strong brand presence, supported by materials suited to a demanding event schedule.
We’re proud to support a talented team with an approach built on honest advice, careful planning and a commitment to making their budget work harder.
